TEKS and Usage recommendations

Boost Reading Texas is closely aligned to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.

Boost Reading Texas:

  • Students in grades K–3 should play Boost Reading for 30- 45 minutes per week, broken out into sessions of 10-15 minutes each.
  • We recommend that students in grades 4–5 spend 40- 60 minutes each week in the program in 20-30 minute sessions.
  • It’s important to note that, based on our impact research, both the session length and weekly usage recommendation are critical for student growth.

Boost Lectura Texas:

Students in Grades K–2 should play for a total of 30–45 minutes per week, broken up into sessions lasting 10–15 minutes each.

Boost Reading Texas and Boost Lectura Texas:

  • Schools should consider the following when deciding how Boost Lectura and Boost Reading are used together: Instructional model, schedule, instructional needs, and literacy goals. These considerations will drive further decisions on professional development and lesson planning.
  • In general, we recommend that if using both Boost Reading and Boost Lectura, students should aim for approximately 40 minutes of usage per week across both programs.
  • The combination of minutes spent in Boost Reading and Boost Lectura for individual students will depend on their instructional needs and goals. Use of both programs is flexible enough to allow for use in any instructional model.
